Reese Stafford floated around foster homes for months before finally finding a home where the parents weren't complete and total whack-jobs. In fact, they turned out to be pretty easygoing, Jesus-loving 30-somethings who didn't have any biological kids of their own - the type of people you didn't imagine taking in foster kids.

After spending several months with them, things start to get more comfortable. However, things don't always go out the way you plan, and fifteen-year-old Reese finds that out when her dad's termination of parental rights go through, she starts new PTSD meds, breaks her arm, and gets a new sibling - all in her first month of sophomore year.
