Cary, a by all means normal teenage girl, falls Ill on her 16th birthday and wakes up dead and more importantly, hungry.

Simultaneously Daven, a man tht is anything but normal, has his life revealed through his journals and flashbacks, and it's a long life. Starting up in the 11th century we learn Daven is an Old One, one of the world's first pseudo-immortal beings, and Primogenitor of vampirism.

As time progresses Daven and Cary find that they've been fated to cross paths and wreak havoc, through events which occurred before either of their births.
