Genetic research and technology advanced so much that it became possible to alter the very DNA of living things. But that kind of knowledge comes at a cost, especially in the wrong hands. Now the world has to deal with the emergence of superhuman abilities. 

Not everyone likes these new superhumans.

While they and their souls have long since passed their weapons haven't quite moved on so well. These people created their weapons using their own soul power.
