She was a singer. He was a painter. Both were artists... Elle. That was the name the world knew her by. But that was not really her name, and no one knew who she really was, except for the fact that she was a well known singer and songwriter. At twenty, Michelle left the small town she knew, wanting more for herself and to explore more outside of the small town of Maven she grew up in. By twenty one, she was known as the new and upcoming R&B artist from her first self-released debut. Over the years she traveled from place to place for all her performances. By the time she was able to take a break from her overwhelming life as a musician, she realized that she was able to keep her past behind her. But, it was now four years since she left Maven, Virginia, and an unexpected text from her mother changed that all. She found out her sister was getting married and that she needed to be there. Going back to her hometown four years later she was sure to get an earful from her family for her abrupt disappearance. But, that wouldn't be all she'd have to explain... © ARTIUMWRITES

"Small world," Jon said, his eyes crinkling faintly. "Yeah." Ella's tone was flat. But there was something about the way he looked at her, just like he'd noticed something under the surface. It softened her voice despite herself. "Weird coincidence." Jon smirked. "Weird? Or fate?" Ella rolled her eyes, but the corner of her mouth twitched. "Definitely weird." When Ella meets Jon, she's drowning in a past she can't escape. He's everything she shouldn't want: charismatic, spontaneous - married. But in his presence, she feels alive, if only for a moment. Please note: This story explores mature emotional terrain. It includes scenes of intimacy, trauma recovery, and past violence (including PTSD). If those themes are not for you, please take care.
