Alec Lightwood, heir to the throne of Idris, has been taught his entire life to stay clear of Brocelind Woods. But he's convinced that magic is nothing but the stuff of old legends, and he's reluctant to give up his relationship with Magnus Bane -who is as enigmatic as he is beautiful- to adhere to such warnings.
Magnus Bane grew up under the tutelage of his estranged but powerful father. Magnus knows how Idris feels about the magic that runs through his veins, and when Asmodeus disappears without a trace and leaves Magnus to Idris' mercy in his place, the very last thing Magnus needs is to be faced with answering to their Prince, his lover, who has now become his greatest enemy.
