"Hello, uh.. my name is Alex Delaporte. I'm here about the starting a club flier?" he states shakily at the front desk of the small area in front of the school.
There sat in front of him was a woman, talking on the phone as she held it up to her ear. She looked up at Alex with a soft wrinkly smile. She held up her pointer finger then started looking through her stack of papers. She handed Alex a piece of paper to fill out.He filled in the blanks with his sloppy but beautiful handwriting, almost too small for her eyes to read.Alex slowly slid it back to her anxiously. The woman scanned it briefly, then hung up the phone with apparently some parent asking about schedule change. Her eyes dazzled at him. "Congrats kid. The House of Hope is officially a club at Canton High."

"𝔼𝕍𝔼ℝ𝕐 𝔽𝔸𝕄𝕀𝕃𝕐 ℍ𝔸𝕊 𝕊𝔼ℂℝ𝔼𝕋𝕊" - - - "My name is Hazel, but most people call me Ze. I'm from Melbourne, and love Taylor Swift." I cringe at my own words, and think back to a time where Fletcher was one of the only people calling me Ze. "Does anyone have questions for Miss. Bolivi?" Fletcher asks, and I hate the way my father's last name sounds on his lips. Lots of students raise their hands, and I feel overwhelmed. People actually want to learn something about me? "Yes, Miss. Abbott. Ask away," Fletcher says to one of the girls who is seated at a table at the front of the class, with other kids who all look bitchy like her. "Are you related to the Bolivi brothers?" Her disgustingly sweet voice pukes out. "My last name is Bailey," I say coldly, hating how that was her only query about me. - - - Hazel Bailey. She's your typical Australian teenage girl. From going out with friends every Friday night, to crushing on university boys. But what happens when this seemingly normal girl experiences the loss of her mother? Fearing that she's going to go into foster care, Hazel begins to stress, but she quickly discovers that she's not going to go into the system. Instead, her five older brothers have gained custody of her. The same five older brothers she never knew existed. Something about them seems off, and Hazel can't help acting wary. But they're not the only ones with secrets. Join Hazel in a journey of lies, love, attachment, and humor.

How many girls has your mother introduced you to over the years?" "Several." I answered. "And you rejected them all to chase a Bale. Is it worth it?" Yes. It is. But no one wants to hear that. Madeline is not like the rest of the girls I've been introduced to. Yes, she's from a wealthy background but she is not stuck up! She's real! Will I see her again? Absolutely yes! I'll probably lose my other hand but she's worth it! "I'm not going to answer that, sir." "The Bales had their shot when Nathaniel Bale was to marry your grandmother. He failed to honor the arrangement. They will not get another chance with a Pallis. I forbid this whim between you and that girl! You are not to see her again! As we speak, your apartment is being cleared. You will reside here in Athens and finish yoyf studies here! You are never to go back to America. Do you hear me?" "I like her." "Did you hear me Ares?" His face is red with rage. "I said I like her." We stared off. Both father's disapprove. This ship sank before it left the shore. Maddie and I are busy scooping water out of it while our fathers poke holes into it. It's destined to fail. To doom. But what if we fight destiny and make our own outcome? What if we write our own ending? "Ares, if you do not cease this foolishness, I will disinherit you." Ye brushed shoulders with me, leaving me standing alone outside. I'll possibly lose my life and now even my inheritance is threatened. Is Madeline worth all this trouble? Yes she is. Let the chips fall where they will. I'm not giving her up.

"Are you sure you're okay, sweetie?" she asks. I take the ice pack back. I nod, but it hurts. My brain feels jostled by the littlest movements. "Yeah," I gasp, holding in any acknowledgment of pain. "I'm fine. Thanks." She glances down, and I catch her eyeing my bruised shins. They took the brunt of the impact. "Football," I explain. She nods. "That's a rough sport," she says. A pause. She walks back to her desk. Then, she stops. She turns around. She looks me in the eyes. Her face is solemn. "Hit 'em harder," she instructs. I nod and almost smile. "I will." *********************************************** It's 1998, and seventeen-year-old Stephanie "Stevie" Rogers is attempting the unthinkable: she wants to be the first female football player at Truman High. Too bad the team, headed by her ex and a sexist coach, won't let it happen. Then of course there's her sexist step-dad, who can't know she's playing football or her life as she knows it would end. If it weren't for her cute guitar-playing best friend, Calvin, all hope might be lost. But with his help, and the discovery of a secret so scandalous it could rock the entire school, she may finally get her time under the stadium lights. *************************************************************************** "You're outnumbered. You need allies if you're gonna survive the season. These guys are gonna have your back. You need them." "I don't need anyone," I insist. "Ha," he hiccups. "Yes, actually, you do." He ploinks me on the nose. I scowl. "No one is invincible." I continue to scowl. He sighs. "Just trust me on this one. Okay?" My face softens a little. He's just trying to help. "Fine," I comply. "But don't expect me to smile about it." He grins. "That's too bad. You're pretty when you smile." "Shut up."

"Caydon, Dad, You, Abby, and I." I absently say while going through my mail. One in paticurly catches my eye. I have not a clue whom it's from. All it has on it is my address. Hmm, guess that one will get opened first. I pull out a business looking folded piece of paper. I turn it around to see that it says: 'For Sophia-Grace James's eyes only.' I look around to see Abby reading a book in one of the bean bags and Hazel playing Call of Duty: World at War on the Xbox. I unfold the paper to read what it says. What I read makes my blood run cold. Dear Grace, I know you are wondering who I am, I promise that you will find out soon enough. Dad cleared his throat, looked down at his hands, and then to me, "Which means, we're moving," he said. I still don't get it. So I looked to Mom for a clue, but she remained unreadable. Elsa appeared excited by this news. Dad looked to me. "Easton, what do you think about that?" he asked, but I don't want to tell him how confused I am. So instead I ask, "When," thinking whatever it is must be happening soon. "Well, we are planning on renting the house to get a little income for it, so we need to look for renters. Your mother and I already found a new house for us to live in." There it is, the explanation. We're getting a new house, like an upgrade, but why? What's wrong with the house we have now?" I'm putting together the dates and we should be seeing potential renters soon. Uncle Rob's bringing by a For Rent sign tomorrow, so I need you two to clean up your rooms." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "Well they want me to start next month, but they are forwarding my pay, so I'll have the money in advance. And here's where the other bit comes in," she told us. For some reason my eyes move from her animated face and I just watch her hands as she explains that with this job means more money, so we will be moving. "Where?" Luke and Damien said in unison. "Well, I've been in contact with this guy, who owns a house that was recently put on the market. He wants to rent it and it's really cheap." "Mom, we need details," Damien exclaimed, getting just as excited as Mom. "Okay, then get in the car and I'll show you our new house!" So we did.
