Todoroki has always loved the snow, it reminded him of his mother's cool hand cooling down his bruises that burned from his father's heated fists, so when his mother left, Todoroki missed that coolness, so when he was finally able to talk his father into letting him 'practice' up in the snow for the days his father wasn't home but on missions, he was filled with glee when his father finally agreed after months of begging, only due to a week-long mission came up, of course, Todoroki still had very little freedom, being monitored constantly by one of his father's underlings. And after years of practicing his gotten great at it.
