When I was growing up, it was assumed that I would marry at 19, get the crown, and rule until one of my kids came along and took it. So my entire life was planned out in front of me. I know it sounds stupid, but I wish I was Merida. She stood up to her mom, and it all ended up ok. But I can't turn my mom into a bear, and I don't hate her to start with.
Ok, so here's the thing: I have no say. Even if I push and push for a choice, the only way I can make any changes in the kingdom is if I marry and become Queen. And even then, my husband would have more power, even though I was the one born into royalty, not him. And I don't know when you're getting this message, but this is not your average fairy-tale ending. It's more of a fucked up Grimm Fairy tale. And those are already pretty fucked.
