My dream continued the one I'd been having for the past couple of nights. I ran, gasping for breath, through the familiar woods from a dark figure behind me. The faster I tried to run, the slower I seemed to go, until it was like I was running in place. I knew I needed to run. I was terrified of what the figure would do when he caught me. "Mara Leigh," a deep, smooth voice called. It was almost hypnotic. That was new. The figure had never spoke before now. I ran as fast as I could go, eyes searching the forest floor for a big stick or something that I could use to defend myself. "Mara Leigh!" the voice came again, this time more insistent. The forest slowly started to fade and I started to awake to someone shaking my shoulders. "Beau?" I mumbled, turning my head to the side. What's Beau doing in my room this time of night? Why is he shaking me? "Do not call me that name." My eyes flew open as I jumped at the voice from my dream. A face was right in front of mine, and just like the voice, it wasn't Beau. Before I could form a scream, a hand covered my mouth. I tried to bite it but I couldn't get my mouth to open. He's too strong. I started to use my whole body to try to get away, but he crawled on top of me, holding me down. I pulled the hidden knife out from under my pillow and slashed as hard as I could at him, but he just grabbed my wrist and squeezed it until the pain made me drop the knife. Then he grabbed both my hands in one of his and held them over my head. He held me down while I struggled. I grunted and moved and tried to kick and scream, but I only wore myself out. Exhausted, I stopped thrashing and let the tears flow freely down my cheeks. I didn't know what to do, so I just tried to prepare myself for whatever was coming.

Nova disguise as a boy to enter the military school. If she is discovered as a girl, she will be kicked out. She is desperate to hide from trackers who have been following her for a dozen years. No one would think to look for her in an all-male military school. She hides among werewolves and is one of the very few nonshifters at the school. She catches the new instructor's curiosity, and her identity is threatened. He claims to be her mate, but she knows that her kind don't have a mate and desperately tries to avoid him. If he stumbles upon her true identity, she is screwed. "What are you doing?!" growls his highness, ripping the knife from my hands. It tingles as his fingers close around my wrist. Fresh blood flows from the wound, turning his hands red. Deep throaty sounds, rumbling in his chest. "You hurt yourself," he says softly, pain evident in his voice. I look up and frown. "It's just a small cut," I reply, annoyed. None of the other cadets get this kind of attention. Besides, we have to learn this to pass the exam. "Shhh, it's going to be okay," he says, pressing me close. My whole side explodes with sparks. It tickles me. "You have to stop hurt yourself. Why are you even here? How am I going to protect you here?" he asks angrily. "I don't need your protection!" I shout, pushing him away. I get an angry growl back. Quickly I grab another knife and throws it over my shoulder, hitting bulls' eye. He glares at me, and the room has gone completely silent. That's when I discover that I may have gone too far with the insanely possessive highness, even though I'm grateful for the extra lessons he gives me. Then suddenly everyone hurries out of the training area. Leaving me alone with the growling, red eyed alpha. "Bullshit." Cillian's eyes flashed black at my outburst, and I saw his body shaking to control his wolf from lashing out at me. I didn't back down. I rolled my shoulders back and glared up at him. "Excuse me?" "I call bullshit. You're hiding something, I can tell. Now tell me the truth - could this be Alpha Howard?" I asked again, taking a step towards him. He was easily a foot taller than me, but I didn't let his height intimidate me. "Stop calling him that." Cillian snapped, a growl erupting from his chest, "he is not your Alpha anymore." "And you are?" ----- Finley grew up surrounded by werewolves that took every opportunity to remind her of her human mortality. Despite her many attempts to stand up to them, escape, or fight back, the Alpha of the pack has claimed her as his, and he wasn't letting her go. But when a pack of rogues attack, Finley sees a chance for escape, and she doesn't think twice before taking it. Once she's finally made it into the world outside of the only pack she'd every known, Finley was left to survive on her own in the woods. The new pack takes her in, but she's thrown into a world of mates, werewolf politics, and wars that Finley doesn't want to be a part of. It's supposed to be her destiny to be with her mate, but she can't help but feel like she doesn't fit into his world. Could fate have made a mistake pairing them together? - Little Red Riding Hood - "I escaped you once. I can do it again just as easily as the first time" I rolled my eyes, busying myself by casually looking at my red painted nails. Feeling him draw closer, I finally stood from the flower patch, turning towards the darkness. His eyes were all that I could see, and I watched them rise up, as if he were standing from a crouching position. He was transforming. He stepped into the light, his boots crunching down on the dried fallen leaves. "And I caught you once as well. And I can do it again just as easily. ~~~~~~~~~~~ In an alternate universe where the big bad wolf could switch between a dashingly annoying 19 year old asshole and an actual Big Bad Wolf, follow Red Riding Hood as she runs for her life, never being able to escape him.
