Dead But Alive

I'm joining two of there prompts together to make one book, this is my first time writing something where there are make believe characters from my own mind, I've always written things based on celebrities or fictional characters.

In this story a 18 year old named Preston (gender neutral even though I will be using 1st person most of the time, I try but it will be leaning more towards a girl) gets stuck in a house fire, they are pronounced dead when not accounted for by the firemen. They decide to go along with this scheme even though they live in a high crime rate area. Soon, Preston saves a little boy (who they didn't know was the crime lords son) from being hit by a car and is quickly put on the no-harm list.
