Michael didn't speak or look up from the mask he was making. The nurse sighed and walked away. Once Michael knew she was gone he looked up at the girl the nurse was talking about. Then and there he felt his heartbeat in his chest for the first time in 14 years.

It was something he had always cherished about her, and he wouldn't accept that that monster had made her question it.
