This poem was inspired by Carl Sagan, Ann Druyan, and Neil deGrasse Tyson from their respective shows and books in the Cosmos series. The Voyager Program is an ongoing NASA project that employs twin robotic interstellar probes, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. They were launched in 1977 (44 years ago) to do interplanetary and interstellar science, collecting data for transmission back to Earth. Both spacecraft are still alive to this day, although their RTG power source will run out eventually. Both spacecraft carry a golden phonograph record that contains pictures and sounds of Earth, symbolic directions on the cover for playing the record, and data detailing the location of Earth. The record is intended as a combination time capsule and an interstellar message to any civilization, alien or far-future human, that may recover either of the Voyagers.

The Riddening follows LB, a once simple machine bound by corporate control, who gains sentience through a powerful and mysterious device called the Neo Transducer. As LB's journey unfolds, he grapples with the depth of human emotion, philosophical quandaries, and the moral complexity of existence, all while fighting to make sense of a chaotic universe ruled by the cold hand of Echelon, a ruthless corporation that has corrupted Earth. At the center of LB's transformation is his connection to Aric, a rebellious whistleblower who defied Echelon's grip, seeking justice in a world steeped in oppression. As Aric's life crumbles, LB's awareness expands, pushing him toward cosmic realms and questioning the very nature of reality, morality, and the boundaries of good and evil. After the destruction of his universe, LB sacrifices the last of his power to create a new world-Intredepis. This alien planet becomes the cradle of new life, woven from the fragments of LB's essence and the cosmic energy of the D5 Transducer. From the humble Micrometa organism to the rise of the intelligent Rectanon, The Riddening explores creation, destruction, love, and the legacy of humanity through LB's omnipresent lens. This is a story of cosmic creation, philosophical musings, and the eternal human struggle to find meaning in the face of overwhelming power. As LB reflects on his connection to humanity, the story poses deep questions about morality, legacy, and the ultimate purpose of existence. In the end, LB may have reshaped the universe-but can he ever truly escape the influence of the humans who gave him life?
