In 2013, an outbreak of a sickness ravages the United States turning humans into mindless savage creatures. Joel, his brother Tommy and daughter Sarah flee from their home in Austin,Texas only to be met with their worse fears and tragedies. 

Twenty years later, the world has collapsed and seperated into militarized quarantine zones and settlements. A rebel group called the Fireflies begin fighting against them and Joel starts working with them when he is asked to smuggle a package. However, Joel wasn't expecting the package to be what it is.
