During an outing on the walls in the Shiganshina District, Jean Kirschstein, a 104th trainee squad leader, gets injured.

 And badly.
His maneuver gear fuel tank goes out and he ends up falling from one of the buildings, loosing consciousness.

He's then taken back behind the walls of Rose, to an infirmary room in one of the Military quarters.

Levi and Eren are the first to witness his injuries. The Commander automatically assigns Jaeger to watch over Kirschstein until he's better.

During that time, both Jean and Eren learn slowly over time that even though they're enemies, they have many things in common. Especially one thing.

They both grief every day over the death of a fellow cadet, Marco Bodt.

Weeks later, Jean recovers and himself and Eren head with the Corps back outside the walls. Jean begins seeing Eren in a different light.

More of a foe, than an enemy.
He begins to understand Eren a little better.
