Louis Tomlinson's sister, Olivia, has always been distant from her family. Her father left when she was a baby, her mother worked almost everyday and her brother Louis was always sneaking out of the house in the middle of the night, sometimes for days on end. She didn't know where he disappeared to, she didn't know any of his friends and she can't remember the last time the two of them had a proper conversation. Olivia decides to follow him out of the house one night, to see where he went. She wishes she never went, she wishes she never went until she meets him. Harry Styles. It isn't your typical love story, but as Louis' best friend, Harry can't let anything bad happen to Olivia. Or is it for his own sake, rather than Louis'?

Harry Styles has always been invisible or at least, that's how it feels at Harrington High. Bullied, bruised, and mostly alone, he keeps his head down and survives one day at a time. Louis Tomlinson, on the other hand, is loud, feared, and always surrounded by a crowd. He's the boy everyone wants and the one Harry can't stop thinking about, no matter how many times Louis shoves him into lockers or spits cruel words in his direction. They've "hated" each other for years. But everything starts to shift the night of a party, when Harry finds Louis drunk, vulnerable... and something breaks open. What follows is a slow, chaotic unraveling of secrets, shame, violence, and the kind of longing that aches. As tension simmers beneath cruel words and stolen glances, they're thrown together again and again forced into project partnerships, trapped in a one bed hotel room, cornered by rumors, and torn apart by jealousy and heartbreak. But love doesn't always arrive gently. Sometimes it shows up as a fight, a bruise, a kiss in the dark. This is the story of how two broken boys tried to hate each other... and failed.
