In a world of royalty and magic, Hajime Hinata is a member of the royal guard, and a Telky, or a telekinesis user. One day, Hajime's king asks Hajime to guard the dungeons, where he meets a mysterious prisoner, Nagito Komaeda. When Nagito doesn't tell Hajime what got him thrown in jail, Hajime makes it his task to investigate the man shrouded in mystery. Hajime ends up finding out a big secret about Nagito, a secret that could get both boys killed.

But there is one student that looks down on him the most, Nagito Komaeda: the ultimate lucky student. He believes since Hajime doesn't have a talent, he's not valid like everyone else and decides to put him down for something he can't control. Hajime just wants to be friends with everyone, but because this inconvenience he's very insecure about being around the others, and distances himself. Then Kazuichi Souda and Chiaki Nanami decide to include him since they feel bad, they just want him to be happy.
