They can't kill each other even though they really do want to, and they are pretty good at it. Or at least that's what they would say.
I'm just having a bit of fun with this piece. The chapters aren't too long, but this isn't really for word count. Inspired by the writing styles of Terry Pratchett and Diana Wynne Jones.

In the gloomy town of Deathmoure, located amidst misty landscapes, people possessed an unusual trait - they couldn't inflict death on anyone, including themselves. It was a pacifist's dark utopia but for my grieving heart of a white widow, it was a prison - a sanctuary of despair. Needing a path out of this grief-stricken existence, I began my search for a reaper who could aid in my departure. With the newly arrived reaper, broad-shouldered with a charismatic, sly charm that was hard to withstand, I found myself engulfed in a bizarre investigation. Mysterious events began occurring within our rainy town, pointing indirectly toward my mysterious reaper. Amidst this chaos, an unlikely sentiment blossomed within me - love. As the investigation deepened, so did the connection between me and my reaper. It was an unexpected twist, a cosmic joke. I was no longer an icy fortress but a hopeful woman, falling in love with the man who was uncovering the darkest secrets of the people around me.
