Dean Winchester, a teenager who has been dragged all across the country by his father to hunt supernatural beings,is facing something scarier than ever before. John Winchester is leaving the boys in a small Illinois town to attend high school while he works on a particularly big case, one he won't let Dean in on, much to his frustration. But Dean meets Castiel on his first day, and they form a sort of friendship. Maybe he'll be able to make it through.
Author's Note- This story is a prequel to the canon show. So yes, Cas is an angel, this is not an AU.

Cas and Dean are seniors in high school and they've been best friends since they were five years old. They know everything about one another, or so Dean thought. The one thing he didn't know was that Cas was gay. The other he didn't know was that Cas was completely and totally in love with him. Oblivious, Dean launches into a new relationship with a girl he meets at the mall one afternoon, and it tears Cas apart seeing Dean with her, especially when it looks like for the first time in his life, Dean is getting serious about a girl. Charlie, being the good friend she is throws a party and invites Cas. There's an interesting guy there that catches Cas' eye. Sweet fluff ensues, and it's soon after that Dean learns Cas' biggest secret. He is also faced with emotions he has never felt before, especially in regards to Cas. He finds himself jealous and angry when he sees Cas with Luke, and at his brother's suggestion he decides to confront his true feelings for his best friend, and tell him how he really feels. There is a lot of pain and heartache in the beginning for Cas, but I swear it ends on a good note. I hope you all enjoy!Complete

A year later, after getting the help he needs, he gets invited on a vacation with his brother and some friends. It's a chance to get away and relax, and maybe try to reconnect with his friends. Dean got into an accident and was most likely going to die, but a miracle happens and Dean lives but for some reason he can't see colors any more, all he sees is a grayscale of it so they all look dull.
