Five normal (or are they?) children are picked to fulfil a prophecy, full of double meanings and strangeness. They realise that this mission is a practical ticking time bomb for them, for they will all die. So what's the point? Well, evil is attacking the land of Ecul (even though they have no explanation for it). Is a life for a life worth it?
The children want to devise a plan for escape, but they soon realise: death is already on them.
