After losing the Galar League, Ash Ketchum had been betrayed by his friends, But most importantly his own blood-related mother. 

He has gone through Depression, Worse than any 17 year old should express. He wanted to end himseld 
But there were 3 reasons he lived:

1, to have revenge on the traitors. 
2, to protect his Adoptive daughter, Katherine
3, to find his true love.
