But he wasn't actually weak, Its quite the opposite for he is a Saiyan and he has been hiding his power because he believes it will corrupt him, But after being forgotten for so long he refuses to hide it anymore and embraces his inner warrior

Daiko's and Korn's parents was holding their own with the men but Cooler stepped in and easily killed their parents but not before Daiko's parents put him inside of a space pod and send him far away but Daiko was force to watch his parents, Korn's parents and Korn himself to be killed right in front of him. Now he's in his teenage years now seeking revenge on Cooler and even Frieza just because he is related to Cooler.
