The annoying little not-witch whose powers are only now emerging is haunted by darker and more dangerous magic than what binds the three of them together and lacking any memory of how or why
Loki's vow to kill their captor as soon as he figures out how to get around the spell becomes a vow to avenge an old mentor and protect all of them from the threat of darker magic than he's ever encountered.
