From outside Derry Maine seems to be a small town in America like any other. Sundays are spent at church, evenings are spent around the dinner table with families, and kids ride their bikes until the street lights come on. However, there is a dark secret that the residents of this town don't seem to even want to discuss. More children go missing in Derry than any other place in the nation; they just seem to vanish out of thin air.

In the summer of 1989, Joanne Sadler faces horrors far more terrifying than parents, a bad reputation, hidden feelings and the typical troubles with her deviant boyfriend Henry Bowers. At the end of it all, she'll be lucky to be alive.
