Disclaimer : This story is a wangxian fanfic, omegaverse and a modern au. 

In this universe it has 5 main tribes/clans. It consits of the Lans, dragon. The Jiangs, tiger. The Nies, crow. The wens, wolf. The jins, fox. 

In this AU Wei Ying never came back, Lan Zhan lived his life not falling in love for anyone and secretly hoping that Wei Ying would come back to him. Even in the end, he cried and said his last word "Wei Ying" and silently passed away, Si Zhui by his side crying.

Now in the modern life, the lans was also the mafia, Xi Chen the alpha of the lan clan and the mafia leader. They agreed when Lan Zhan was 23 he would be head of the mafia gang, splitting the work with Xi Chen. 

Lan Zhan already 22, Wei Ying was 19, a freshman in the uni.

They were in the same department and coincendentaly they had almost the same schedule as eachother, so they met frequantly.
Thats where their relationship starts forming. Wei Ying was involved in a accident and there is where you have to read this in order to know what happens.
