This was a story for my PTSA entry. The theme for 2014's PTSA was, "The world would be a better place if..."

So, this came about. Notch, I know that this is a... sensitive topic to some, but I used "The world would be a better place if the world wasn't selfish."

This actually got honorable mention in the contest, even though I thought it was bad. If anyone requests me to, I'll post the aftermath of my unnamed girl's decision. I hope you enjoy!Todos los derechos reservados

It is 1914, and Henry Anderson is watching the world descend into war. Like many young men at the time, he is fascinated by the idea of warfare and glory. Henry enlists in the military against his parents' wishes and throws himself into the life of a British soldier in Flanders. But it is far from what he expects: Henry's fantasies of righteous battle fade into the grim reality of gruesome death and shell-shock. He and his fellow soldier Jacob must help each other survive the cruel trenches, but it is no longer certain that either of them will return to England alive. Told in journal entries and letters from Henry's sister Elizabeth, this reveals the realities and horrors of World War I, on the battlefield and in the homefront. I wrote this for a history project while studying WWI and got way too involved in it, so here you are. WARNINGS: gun/bomb/gas-related violence, war descriptions, graphic death, suicide attempt. I will mark specific chapters with warnings and give summaries of those chapters on the following one. These may not be complete, so if a chapter is not marked and should be, please comment to let me know. Written in 2019 (age 15).

a girl was born into a dystopian world where two societies were separated. those who are immune were placed into mazes whilst those who are gifted with knowledge were known as "the enemies" and placed in labs across the nation. unluckily for her she was placed with the enemies, known as WCKD. her abnormal intelligence made her stand out from the crowd, especially with no family members. she had no intention whatsoever on the change of the course of her life. she felt betrayed by the people she thought who would protect her and care for her. not everyone is who they seem, right? - (written in no caps, sorry for any editing mistakes - unedited as well) - gally groaned, folding his arms like a child. CRINGE WARNING! First book I ever wrote on here!! -- "Sometimes the person who you are willing to take a bullet for is the person behind the gun." I stood peering over the cold lifeless body that lay before my eyes. I had always thought of death the enemy, but right now, I blessed it upon the person who is now at peace. Sometimes you don't need to be the smartest, or the fastest, but you do need to be wisest. They say the blood runs deeper than water, and I believe it, because even though the people that we love can turn on us and begin to hate us, they are only human, meaning that soon they will begin to see how short life really is and how it is not to be wasted. People who seem perfect and they look like they have no floors'; they are the people who are suffering, like I was. But I found my savior in the most uncommon place. He was able to look through my mask, he saw the cracks, and tried to fix the broken girl that hid away deep inside the girl who only wanted to be seen as 'fine'. I slowly began to find comfort and safety in him, and I did the same to him. We were two broken people becoming whole. Someone once said when you pass, if you can count your true friends on one hand you are beyond lucky, and I even though I did not like the person that lay before me, I know that he once had true friends, including me. I'm a 17 year old girl who has suffered more than any other, beginning to believe that 'Hope' was just another word the people throw around. Until I fell in love with a badboy. I believe that if the World's population act cooperatively then people could help one another out of difficulties and build a global paradise for everyone to enjoy for all time to come. Throughout 2016 I published 53 blog posts arguing the case for global cooperation. I invented short stories, produced comparative tables, wrote essays and discussed the work of others all with the objective of persuading my readers to contemplate this better way to optimise the happiness of all sentient beings on Earth.
