As a shy child, Lawrence lives for his extensive and well-cared for toy collection. But then these toys begin to disappear. When he finds out why, it leads to the end of his joy and sense of security, and he retreats even further into himself.

Bonnie is surprised one day after school by the appearance in her home of an elderly (and previously unknown to her) relative, her Great-grandmother Judith. It turns out that Judith is a compulsive shoplifter, and soon the family apartment is filled to the ceiling with trinkets and baubles. It's a strange life, but Bonnie loves it. Then it all ends in one terrible week, and Bonnie loses everything.

Somehow Lawrence and Bonnie find each other, and some small bit of happiness, while struggling to overcome their traumatic pasts.

This novel was written for the 2010 International 3-Day Novel Contest. It appears here pretty much as written during those 72 hours and contains typos, dropped plot threads and many inconsistencies. Those things are part of its many charms!

A note: the cover and chapter art was AI generated by me and midjourney.

𝐒𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥. 𝐒𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐭. ~ For five years, Evelyn turned up missing. Locked at the bottom of an endless void of water in a metal safe. Trapped in a coma of her own. Though she returns, nothing in her life is the same. Her family has vanished without a trace. The home she has spent more torturous yet joyful moments in, the closest thing to home, destroyed and left in rubble. Her best friends, her brother, her own daughter, missing without so much as a trail. No one left to help her, console her, tell her everything will be okay. Within the span of five months, Evelyn has managed to rise back to her feet, but she's dropped her old life. Temporarily. Changing her hair style, and name, she's confided in people eligible to help her. But per usual, she's ultimately bound to making enemies. Creating a new enemy was not on her agenda, especially not one that she is agreeing to marry. After getting into a situation she can't seem to get herself out of, she is forced to stay in the same house as someone she hates as much as he hates her. But as time drags on, the line between love and hate seems to blur. Forcing herself to focus on her main objective, she attempts to limit as much time with him as possible. But living in the same house, despite its rather large build, she's bound to run into him by chance. Evelyn will do anything to save her family, as they had done many occasions before-for her. Even if it means destroying her own happiness in the process. {MATURE LANGUAGE} TW -Violence -Rape/sexual assault -Kidnapping -Drugs -Gore/torture -Suicide thoughts/attempt

Serial Killer Summer (A 3-Day Novel)

14 parts Complete

In the summer of 1992, there was a serial killer on the loose in the big city. Lucky for Kerry, she got to escape to her favourite place on earth, Camp Big Spirit, where she was head of nature programming. But did trouble follow her to paradise? First, Kerry spotted a mysterious man and his dog living in the woods. Then a young girl went missing from a nearby campground. When Camp Big Spirit was suddenly evacuated for a "public safety" issue, it seemed certain that danger was their midst. In the present day, Kerry visits the remains of Camp Big Spirit and relives her final summer there: the changes big and small, the relationships that mattered most, and the end of the best years of her life.
