Emma Swan is the leading paramedic firefighter for the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Hotshot Crew, the Wildland Hotshots. Having grown up amongst firefighters, Emma made it her goal to be a part of the esteemed brand of firefighters sent out only to combat the most fierce fires. Battling blazes and tending to her fellow firefighters isn't just her job; it's how she acts as a Savior to her chosen family.

When a fire catches the Southland by surprise, Emma gets her crew out there until they find themselves in a bind. Making it out of the woods, they are helicoptered to the UCLA Medical Center, arriving at the doorstep of Dr. Regina Mills' ER.

Dr. Mills has spent years training and working hard, landing her position as the Head of Emergency at UCLA Medical Center. Growing up in a suburb of Maine, her small-town charm only goes so far until she has to release the Evil Queen within to get her job done right. When the Wildland Hotshots show up with their award-winning paramedic firefighter in peril, Regina knows it's up to her to treat these highly respected firefighters.

Emma and Regina don't get along at first. But during the treatment of this elite firefighter, Regina notices an attachment begin to grow to Emma. And as her wounds are tended and her injuries healed, Emma begins to realize her feelings blooming for her doctor.

But when the same blaze that brought Emma to the hospital takes a nasty turn, the lives, neighborhoods, and industries of LA are endangered. Emma and her crew are called back into the fire without delay. All Regina has left is her heart beating frantically within her chest as she watches Emma run into danger.

As swarms of people left by the fire scorching LA begin to enter her ER, Regina keeps watching, waiting for the moment Emma will return.
