This memoir is about my quest to overcome shyness and to find love. It's a love story. What makes this remarkable is that I was the who never had a girlfriend or went out on a date in high school. I spent five years getting a degree in engineering and only had two dates by my senior year. The most important thing I learned in undergrad school was social skills and how to overcome social anxiety or social phobia. I might have met the criteria for selective mutism because I was so quiet and never spoke in social situations.

It still seems like the guy is expected to ask the girl out - or as an adult, to ask the lady out. Imagine the burden that has placed upon me. You probably cannot imagine this. You might wonder what is the thing that I feared so much? Someone might say "no" and that might just mean that I am not their type or they are already seeing someone. A therapist asked if I have "rejection phobia." I suppose I do. A phobia is a fear of something that is way out of proportion to the actual danger or threat posed by something. This is one of the first things that makes this story unique and different. The other unique aspect of this book is the fact that the person I fell in love with had a shortened lifespan.

In this quest to find love, I was successful. I fell in love more than once. The first girl I ever loved was named Celta. I learned on New Year's day of 1991 that she died. I didn't think I could stop crying. I was able to heal and find love again.

It is possible to overcome shyness and to find love. I was very successful in this regard. I'd love to tell you that story. It's a love story about two people Lynn and Bruce. Two poets. Two people in love who wanted a normal life. If you thought that shyness was the only challenge in our lives, unfortunately, you would not know the full story. Anyway, I was in love. I was totally, completely, madly, in love.

This book is dedicated to Lynn Denise Krupey who died far too young.

"Are you going to come to the wedding?" Enrique asked warily, as if he were dreading the answer. "Yes, I promise that I'll be there. Unless, you don't want me to come." I rushed out feeling panicked. Maybe he didn't want me to come, what if it was too hard- "What if you break your promise?" I mentally sighed in relief and smiled softly. "Ree, I will never break a promise to you. For as long as my heart is beating, no matter the pain it brings. I'm here today and I'll be there when you marry her in two weeks. Trust me." I stared into his eyes, hoping that he would see how much I meant my words and how much I loved him. ∞ ∞ ∞ Megan is an innocent, independent and beautiful woman. Enrique is a cocky, Greek God like playboy. When the two's worlds collide, the chemistry is explosive. CRINGE WARNING! First book I ever wrote on here!! -- "Sometimes the person who you are willing to take a bullet for is the person behind the gun." I stood peering over the cold lifeless body that lay before my eyes. I had always thought of death the enemy, but right now, I blessed it upon the person who is now at peace. Sometimes you don't need to be the smartest, or the fastest, but you do need to be wisest. They say the blood runs deeper than water, and I believe it, because even though the people that we love can turn on us and begin to hate us, they are only human, meaning that soon they will begin to see how short life really is and how it is not to be wasted. People who seem perfect and they look like they have no floors'; they are the people who are suffering, like I was. But I found my savior in the most uncommon place. He was able to look through my mask, he saw the cracks, and tried to fix the broken girl that hid away deep inside the girl who only wanted to be seen as 'fine'. I slowly began to find comfort and safety in him, and I did the same to him. We were two broken people becoming whole. Someone once said when you pass, if you can count your true friends on one hand you are beyond lucky, and I even though I did not like the person that lay before me, I know that he once had true friends, including me. I'm a 17 year old girl who has suffered more than any other, beginning to believe that 'Hope' was just another word the people throw around. Until I fell in love with a badboy. In which I fall in love with my brother's best friend. ***** "Don't pretend like you don't feel anything." His voice is low, sending shivers down my spine. "What do you mean?" "You know damn well what I mean." "I don't know what you're talking about." I pretend to ignore him, flipping some pages in my book. "Come on. I have all these assignments waiting. Aren't you supposed to teach me tonight?" "It depends on what you want me to teach." He smirks, his voice sounding even more dangerous. ***** I thought that my brother was the most popular guy in school, but as soon as I step into my university life, I realize how wrong I was. Meet Vaughn Cooper, his best friend. The guy is the epitome of every girl's dream. Godlike handsome. The quarterback. He's got the looks, and he's got the brain. Come on, he's got the scholarship to one of the most prestigious universities in the country, while I have just barely passed the entrance examination after long years of struggle during high school. How could a guy who worked that hard and deserves nothing more but adoration be labeled as a bad boy? Yeah, the answer is simple. The moment we lock eyes, I realize something as I stare into those piercing, amber eyes. He's not every girl's dream. He's every girl's nightmare. In my case, MY nightmare. Calm down, heart.
