"You're like an animal."

Resentment visible, her hazel eyes confronted his coal-black ones. There was a darkness lurking in those orbs, which she couldn't avoid, and it scared her.

Her fist clamped around his shirt, jaw clenching. But there was no sign of tears in her eyes.

"A ruthless beast."

"And?"

His arms, which have been holding her waist, hardened their hold, vigorously pulling her closer.

"Wild animals are either tamed or shot down to death," she spoke with no traces of reluctance.

Next second, the laugh that left Zaid's mouth was humourless, dark, and desolate.

"You forget to mention one more thing - sometimes, they're set free. To prey openly, without any constraint."

This bought a slight tremble in her posture.

A little fear.

There's a gap between troubled sanity and devoted insanity.

There's always a difference between somebody who wants you and somebody who would do anything to keep you.
