PROMPT: In 1200 words or fewer, write a story about a kidnapping.
AUTHOR NOTE: I decided to take the longer road, at least compared to the other entries, which were mostly set in modern-day. I had written a 50K+ words NaNoWriMo 2013 entry based on this short-story but it hasn't been edited. I will be posting it once I decide to work on it again.
SUMMARY: Summer Clay returns to the village where she was raised as a child. She was of a little value to the Mud People until the Men of Stone took her from them. Only then does she realize that there is more to her world than watching young girls like her be treated like they were nothing more than mre currency.

The moment she noticed her handler forgot to lock the door behind him, she wasted no time making a run for it. There's only one problem though. She had no clue where she was. Surrounded by endless trees she was stripped of having any sense of direction but that didn't stop her motives. Madeline Pierson was just an ordinary girl forced to move all the way across the country. She's dreading to start a new high school in the middle of the semester. However, school goes much better than planned when she meets a caring boy named Matt. Madeline begins receiving various creepy and unsettling threats from an anonymous source. Ripped from the comfort of her home, she is taken captive by the man who makes her life a living hell. Matt is determined to find her, no matter what it takes. Him and his friends, Dylan and Taylor, devise a plan and set out to find her. Will she survive? Will she ever be found? *** I pushed myself to my feet and tried to run as fast as I possibly could. I saw the woods ahead and knew I just had to make it into the thick trees. As I was only a few yards away from freedom, I felt an excruciating pain in my hip, causing me to collapse. I screamed out in agony and clutched my hip. There was a rock, stained with blood, that lay next to me. I saw a pair of oncoming rubber boots in the distance. I began to cry hysterically as I knew my freedom was short lived. "You! I thought you would cooperate!" the kidnapper screamed. I looked up at his furious face and gasped in horror as I saw a whip in his hand. "I should've never trusted you. You are my daughter, you stay with me. Completed!! -- I could hear him running behind me. "HELP!" I started to scream the words repeatedly. I felt like I was the stupid, helpless girl in a horror film. I ran right into a fence and fell down. I got back up and turned around. Blake was right there. He pinned me up against the wood. "You are so stupid!" He chuckled. He grabbed a bottle of some sort and smiled. "Nighty night." He whispered. He sprayed the substance all over me until I blacked out. -- 16 year old Cathy moves from a small Rhode Island town to the big Austin, Texas. When she starts her new school, Cliffside High, everyone despises her. They don't like the same music she does and they don't dress like her. She's an outcast in their book. But when she gets home, she goes to her favorite website and chats with people who love her. Who don't despise her. But, everything changes when a stranger starts to chat with her. He compliments her, makes her feel bubbly. She feels like he loves her, and she loves him. Then things get a little weird when he asks her personal questions. Not thinking twice, she answers all of them. Cathy feels guilty afterward, and never wants to talk to him again. But he wants to meet her. Little did she know his visit will be soon and blood curdling.Complete

She keeps her head down and I groan, "Ugh, please stop crying." She wipes her face and sniffle, "Why are you crying?" "Because the old man promised me that you would take care of me. He lied to me, you're taking me back to that place." I throw my head back and close my eyes shut. By old man she means my father. "Okay, okay, okay. These people go missing from days to years. Niall is building up his own company to compete against his dad. As soon as Niall company starts growing, his father pushes a woman on him to take care of. Haven Posh has been in a basement since she was a baby. She was kidnapped months after she was born. Niall's dad is the person to find Haven and save her, but none of Haven family are around for her to go back to. Not only that, Haven can't do anything for herself. The only thing she can do is clean herself and read, but don't know what any of the words mean or what she's reading. What happens when Haven ends up in Niall's care? 'It is horrible outside, and with the short time it took to take me in the car, I'm soaked. It's too dark to know what car it is. I wonder if that's why he didn't blind fold me. I spoke too soon, because he flips down my hood and slides the material over my eyes... I'm suddenly thankful for the warm car and cover from the storm. He shuts the door and gets in on the other side. Oh gosh.
