**SEQUEL TO Lost and Found **

What happened between Endgames and TFATWS? Why were Bucky and Sam (Bucky more so than Sam but you know) so bitter towards each other? What did they do, or not do, that caused them to act the way they did? And why the hell won't Bucky just shut up about the shield? Well, maybe he made some promises he just couldn't keep.

"A gift." One guard says to someone else in the room as he leaves. I groan in pain and scrunch myself into a ball, squeezing my eyes shut. Seconds later I hear shuffling and then someone is beside me. "Y/N?" Asks a voice. No- Bucky's voice. My whole body relaxes and I let out a soft breath. He's ok. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Staying together has always been the most important thing to Y/N Rogers. After the death of her mother left her an orphaned 15-year-old, her friendship with her older brother Steve and best friend Bucky mattered more than ever. She latched onto them, finding some bittersweet solace in their closeness. In turn, they finished raising her. The three were inseparable. Even now, six years later, nothing has changed. So when Bucky and Steve both leave to fight in the war the last thing she's going to do is stay in Brooklyn. Nothing's too far if it keeps their trio together. Not leaving everything she knows behind, not shoving down feelings she's refused to acknowledge for years, not even risking her life time and time again. It's the kind of commitment fueled by an infinite amount of love, but guaranteed to end in disaster, every single time. That night he pressed a paper into her hands and told her to run, to burn the paper, to never stray from its words, had an impression on her life that she'd never really talked about. But it affected everything. "You're gonna run like hell when you get to out onto the street. Don't stop. Don't ever stop," Was it still worth it, curled up on the cement floor? Yes. Knowing that what you're doing is good doesn't ensure that it'll ever be easy. Bucky learned that many years ago in his childhood, and over again in World War Two. So why was the world still trying to teach him that, after everything he'd been through? Pain, pain, pain, for every choice you try to make yourself. Being yourself causes the pain... that was what Hydra taught him. What Hydra wanted him to believe. And he wished he didn't have to believe it, but it was true. Of course she didn't want to lie to him. He was like hope in the darkness, even when he was part of the darkness. Every time he went through shit, he inspired her. That night when he'd pressed a paper into her hands and told her to run, to burn the paper, to never stray from its words, had had an impression on her life that she'd never really talked about. But it affected everything. Cover by @planetaryfire (thanks so much!)
