They say there's a Realm of Magic, full of wonders and beauty, a world of unicorns and glowing crystals, that calls people towards it. Jester Cross, a survivor of the Great Monster Massacre, has heard this call for most of his life. But he ignores it, for what has magic ever done for him, other than take his sleep, his home, his parents, and his people? Another war is fast approaching the kingdom of Mewni, plotted by their sinister queen, Solaria the Monster Carver. Everyone is looking for an escape from their problems. Jester would rather ignore it all and focus on his friendship with the Prince of Dark'niss and the kind Princess of Mewni. But he finds himself caught in the middle of the battle when he realizes he can no longer stand by while Solaria aims to finish her genocide of his people. There in the middle, between being a hero to his people, a traitor to his friends, and a criminal to the Mewmans, the woman with the sickle waits for him. Before now, he'd only ever seen in painful visions brought on by the magic, but it's with her that his destiny is intertwined. She aims to ease his pain by following the call of magic and finding out his purpose once and for all. But are they prepared responsibilities the truth will bring them? Can Jester rise up and answer the call, or is he doomed to lose more to the magic than his people and his sanity? (Trigger warnings: This story contains violence, childhood trauma, mental and physical abuse, references to genocide, and hypnosis.)

Mirai comes from a long line of witches who have been particularly gifted in using their inner sight. As such, she's trained her sight from a young age. She's always been a disappointment, however, as the only thing she's ever been able to see is the vague image of a girl. On her 18th birthday, Mirai discovers a mark on the back of her neck displaying the number thirty. From her first proper vision, she deduces that unless she finds the girl before the number reaches zero, both of them will die. Only being able to depend on her less than mediocre skills in seeing the future, Mirai sets out to find the girl before the time is up. Little does she know of the trauma the girl has suffered, nor that finding her is only the beginning. ---------- Mature rating due to: smut, violence, suicide (happens in the prologue while POV-character has her back turned), rape (happens in chapter 30 and will be mentions of it afterwards, fade to black, there will NOT be a trigger warning at the beginning of the specific chapter), violent death of babies, some rather bloody scenes, self-harm, extreme guilt. Note that a major part of this story focus on healing from and learning to live with trauma, so though you could potentially read it but skip some specific parts, if you're not comfortable reading something that deals with the listed topics, then this book won't be for you. ---------- This series will contain the following volumes: Volume 1 - Zoe, the witch of innocence (completed) Volume 2 - Crimson, the witch of night (completed) Volume 3 - Morana, the witch of life (completed) Volume 4 - Mirai, the witch of sight (completed) Volume 5 - Danae, the witch of light (completed) Volume 6 - Rheseis, the faerie of love (ongoing)
