The Untamed/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation/Mo Dao Zu Shi fanfiction
What if Jiang Cheng had chosen to support Wen Qing, the Wen clan remnants, and most importantly, Wei Wuxian? Follows CQL/Untamed canon, with some scenes being taken from the book as well. Canon Divergence from Episode 20.

I really shipped Jiang Cheng and Wen Qing hard in the web series, even knowing that there was zero chance of them ending up together. I also agreed with Jin Guangyao's "the reason you suck speech" to Jiang Cheng at the end of the story. This is my "what if" scenario in getting the two together. I will have scenes that are taken directly from the series, with the translations from the subtitles on Netflix. I will be following the CQL/Untamed canon for the most part, though there will be some things inspired by or taken from the book canon as well.

Wei Ying was thrown into the burial mounds by Wen Chao, he found Went Ning and together they managed to survive. When he got out, the war at nightless city was still going on, but with Wei Ying they managed to defeat the Wen's but ended up being exhausted at the end of the fight. Lan Zhan got worried over him because of the amount of resentful energy that Wei Ying held and ultimately decided to take him to cloud recesses. Wei Ying grew inseparable from Lan Zhan and always got tense when he was alone, he only felt safe around Lan Zhan, and it confused him because he had two amazing siblings and Lan Xichen was also extremely kind and on some level he did also feel safe with them but he never felt fully safe until he was with Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan on the other hand always tried his best to make Wei Ying feel safe and talk to him about how he was feeling, which always seemed to help the younger. The two had gotten to a point where they would spend every day and night together, becoming inseparable from each other, and that's when they both realized that they had feelings for each other. After the truth about the golden core transfer gets revealed, Jiang Cheng has to reassess his feelings towards his former (or not so former?) brother. He goes to Wei Wuxian's room and something unexpected happens. He finds himself back in the past, but not as himself but as Wei Wuxian instead. As he watches the events from his brother's perspective, he has the possibility to understand Wei Wuxian's choices better. Is this perhaps a chance for him to change something? So, I have found this prompt event on tumblr and decided to give it a go. I am not sure I am actually running with the rules all that well, but I am doing my best. Wei Wuxian was a mischievous person. Everyone knew it. Upon going into the Coud Recesses to attend the 3 month lecture, this was something Lan Zhan had learned well, especially since he himself was often the target. Still, Wei Wuxian was definitely talented, if a bit unorthodox. So, when Wei WuXian returns after ab absence of about a month, returning just in time to aid in the wipeout of the Wen Clan using some odd form of cultivation, Lan Zhan realizes something is wrong. The previously outgoing boy has turned inwards on himself. He no longer makes jokes, he smiles when anyone is looking, but the smile drops when nobody is paying attention. He laughs, but Lan Zhan knows they are faked. He flinches away from anyone, and Lan Zhan is sure that he could hear screaming at some point during the night. He is no longer creating mischief and breaking rules, and was often found alone, staring blankly into the distance. The only people who could touch him without him backing away was Wen Ning...and him. Lan Zhan realized this when he had grabbed Wei Wuxian to keep him from storming out of a room, and instead of fighting him off as he did with everyone else, he calmed. Unnerved by the drastic change in personality, and, though unwilling to admit it, worried for the slightly younger boy, Lan Zhan gets his father and brother to convince the Jiang clan to let them take Wei Wuxian back to the Cloud Recesses, under the pretence of having him attend more training, as an official Disciple in a few more months. The Jiang clan eagerly agreed, as such an opportunity was ra early given. Lan Zhan soon realizes, however, that Wei Wuxie went through far more than he was telling anyone, and that, just perhaps, Lan Zhan may be beginning to feel attracted to the boy.
