Vlad, a vampire whose lived for over two centuries was once a hopeless romantic who would do just about anything for love. All that changed when one woman, whom he considered to be his heart in human form broke him, draining his ability to ever love again and leaving him to wallow in misery. Since then, Vlad has sworn to never let any woman get close enough to hurt him like that again, Vlad simply doesn't do relationships. It's been like that since she left and will remain the same until the end of time. So he thinks...

"You look like you've seen a ghost" I say to Lilith when she enters my study with her pale face and eyes wide open

"That's because I just saw one" she says while still looking at me

"Seriously Lilith, even as a child I never believed in that crap" I dismiss her, Maybe she forgot to eat and hunger is making her delusional

Lilith walks to my table, never taking her eyes off me. She eyes me carefully and I sit there thinking if I have something on my face, I've never been a clumsy eater but hey, these things happen "She's back Vlad, I saw her"

"Whose back?"

"Naomi... She's back" she whispers and at that moment, if I had a heart, I know it would have stopped beating
