Holding her breath, Claudia lay her head down against the ground and willed herself to be somewhere else. Anywhere else. When she had desired more adventure in her life, this was not at all what she meant! While the garden they were in was beautiful, with uniform, perfectly dispersed trees that let the evening sun shine through with a heavenly golden light, and well-kept paths for anyone to walk, Claudia wished she was enjoying the scenery as a visitor, rather than a fugitive.
She could not see Lucius at all from her position, but she could hear him as he moved like a panther through the garden, the rustle of grass his only giveaway. What was he planning to do? Did he have a plan at all?

For a long, long time, the garden remained silent. In fact, Claudia was about ready - nay, desperate - to stand up and look around, when from a distance she heard a shout, the clinking of swords, a terrible 'squish' sound, then nothing at all.

**
Follow the journey of two distinguished members of the Roman Empire, during the time of Christ's ministry on the earth as they discover the true meanings of 'love', and 'sacrifice'...

**
This story switches between two points of view, the switches marked clearly by '***'. This story does not contradict teachings of the Bible, but merely shows the happenings of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection from a different perspective. I hope you enjoy the read, and learn something new about our wonderful God!

At 21, Kea (kay), as he was nicknamed by his family, learned to lip read since he was young. his speech was normal as it could get making it almost impossible to tell that he is clinically deaf. during one of their visits with his father to one of their allied pack, he smelled the most sweetest sunshine, if ever sunshine could ever have a scent. Maybe his mate could lift him out of his own darkness. Liam, as he was called, was sold to a pack when he turned 7 by whom he once called father. he was told that he would be a servant there and do everything his alpha would tell him to. no questions asked. having been banned to ever talk or make a peep make you really loose your voice. he didnt even remember what his own voice sounds like and when was the last time he ever said a full sentence without being slapped. getting in and out of consciousness, he inhaled the most refreshing scent he ever smelled before - rainforest with a hint of strawberry. how he wish he could eat a strawberry that day since its his birthday. so much for wishfull thinking.

Power is all that matters in this world, those who are starved of it are at the bottom of the hierarchy, but then there are those who bathe in it. Being born with a golden spoon in her mouth, Valeria has been accustomed to having people at her feet. When certain events intervene with her trust in her family, Valeria begins to notice things the press failed to. As more and more clues emerge from the shadows, as more people become apart of this mess, Valeria makes it her mission to get to the bottom of all the lies she's grew up with. Secrets. Deception. Illusions. Would Valeria be able to push past the truth that her family was feeding her or will she herself take down anyone who gets in her way? -------------------------- This is book 1 in the SERPENTS' series. This book contains extreme themes that may not be suitable for specific audiences, I've warned you. The love interest is violent, and the stereotypical Made Man, meaning this book will have non-consensual relationships, where the male lead is quite literally the incarnation of the devil himself.

His irises swirled slowly, an enticing pale silver against his stark black lashes. They illuminated slightly, so quick it was gone in a blink. He broke our eye contact, lifting his head straight. A darkly amused expression appeared. It happened so quickly it seemed like a mask appeared. I blinked myself out of my trance, and turned on my heel to see what was at the receiving end of his humor. Augustus stood there. His face contorted into anger as he took in my ruined dress. His hands shook in his fury. "Roman." Augustus nearly snarled the name. "Have you come to join us, little King? The party was just getting started." So his name was Roman, some big secret. I rolled my eyes at the reveal as well as his taunting sentence. "Davina, what is going on here?" Augustus asked, his eyes full of betrayal. I had never seen him so guarded. I could feel his anger through my bones. His words were careful. What was he talking about? My brows furrowed at the insinuation, "What?" A line of smoke floated around my right shoulder and come between Augustus and I. How convenient. I had the desire to swipe it away but didn't. "What can I say, she...seduced me." Roman purred. His voice was a sensual whisper in my left ear. I subconsciously lifted my shoulder and backed away from it. Not only because he had lost his fucking mind, but also because it shot down my spine, caressing my skin. ** This book contains mature content. Power and money didn't really interest Serena, instead she wished for a life of peace and safety. Barely able to afford a bus pass, it was mere chance that she saw a man in handcuffs being escorted by police. And he saw her. Several groups wanted to control him to suit their own purposes, but he could not be controlled by force. He only wanted one thing - and it was her. I will be your heart, if you will be my shield. * * * Sneak Peek * * * I pitied the man, although with that many cops around him, he was likely quite dangerous. Who needed 30 police officers to supervise one guy who was likely in handcuffs and leg shackles? I absentmindedly watched the man walk down the gauntlet between the rows of officers. It was as if I couldn't look away. He paused and looked around. His brilliant glowing blue eyes seemed to meet mine across the vast distance. I couldn't even blink as his eyes seemed to hold mine. The trees of a park broke our locked gaze as the bus kept on driving. I took a deep breath, suddenly realizing that I had stopped breathing the moment our eyes had met. I had never seen such blue eyes before - and they glowed! A shiver ran through me. I had been too far away to even determine the color of the police officers' hair, let alone know the color of the man's eyes. My eyes watched the trees, hoping for a break in them so I could see the man again. I had no such luck. --------------------------------------------------- Please note that this story has nothing to do with any of my other stories. This is an action romance with my usual sci fi twists. [BOOK TWO] "Anniversaries to some are like counting the years spent doing something great, years spent together, or years spent alive." I started slowly, voice dropping to a drawl as I peeked cautiously out of my bedroom blinds, scanning the road to see if there was a cloaked figure watching my every movement. "I view anniversaries as counting down the days till death finds me." *** After the events of her wonderfully packed 21st birthday, Addison was ready to retire back into her home and never again see the light of day. It wasn't a totally bad idea. After all, her family's generations-old riches was enough to tide her over until the day her past finally catches on, and until that day finally arrives, she had no intention to step out of her front door. And to think the last time she did, she ended up in the game of cat and mouse with a cynical hooded spirit that wanted her dead and her soul in a glass bottle for his own little sadistic collection. Silence had followed the whole year after the disastrous party. For nearly 365 days, Addison had no trouble with unwanted evil celestial beings lurking around her house in an attempt to take her soul away with a world-stopping kiss. However, the silence was too often, and the world had become too quiet. Reason being? Apparently, Death's new move was to kidnap her best friend Minnie Hoover in an attempt to bait her down to hell itself. Life became much quieter without one-third of her little clique. And so Addison ventured away from the safety of her home, in search of her best friend. After all, silence creeps the heart just as death does, and the world was now deadly silent. ***** Highest Rank Fantasy: #9 Highest Rank Teen Fiction: #77
