Hunter grinned but he didn't seem as happy as the guy next to me. More like he knew crap was about to fall. "He can't play when someone's watching him," Justin almost sang into my ear. "Totally screws up then." "But you all are watching him," I pointed out. At the back of the room, someone laughed. "Yeah, but we're not girls." 


Ryan Hunter's parties are legend. And tonight she's going to be there. Lisa Matthews has been in love with her best friend since kindergarten. There close as can be. They've even slept in each other's beds. But they've never kissed. Weeks away from her seventeenth birthday, Lisa hopes that soon things will change between them. But when Tony comes home after summer soccer camp, his mind is focused on someone else. And worse, the new girl is a soccer player. Fighting for her love, Lisa gets carried away and makes a stupid decision: without the least bit talent or any passion for the sport whatsoever, she goes for the co-ed soccer team. The tryouts are hell, the first match ends bloody, and the morning after the selection she wakes up in the worst place possible--in the arms of the captain of the soccer team. Those are the two distinct groups surrounding One Direction, but Marissa isn't either of those. Marissa is a Direction Hater. She can't stand to listen to their music, and she doesn't understand the hype surrounding the boys. They, afterall to Marissa, are just a phase the girls are going through. Within a months time Mariss thinks the crazed phase will pass, and everyone will be back to normal. After arriving at school one day, she is appalled to see that the boys are hosting a signing and concert on the last day of school at her school. Her best friend Bethany, is a senior and obsessed with One Direction, along with most of every other girl in the school. Marissa is sucked in by her best friend to help her with scrapbooks, and T-shirts for the last day of school. Bethany even persuades Marissa to go to the signing with her. During all the bustle, the boys take notice of Marissa, especially Niall. The boys try to make conversation with her, but she doesn't let them into her life. The boys are beyond confused. Most girls, fans or not, usually will talk to them or just say hi. The boys brush it off, but Niall doesn't. There is something different about this girl, something he's never seen before, and he's determined to get her to accept him and the band into her life. Will she let it happen?

Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As I transcribe it here, I have tried to update it a bit and give the characters/story more depth than what I had when I was younger. Hopefully it all gets pulled together!
