The sound of a badly played flute wafted through the mountain. Lan Wangji inwardly winced at the noise. The sound was eerie and out-of-tune. He tried to ignore it, as it really did offend his ears. The music stopped, then started again. It did this multiple times. He continued to try to ignore it, until a familiar melody reached his ears. His eyes widened as he recognized the tune being played. His entire body froze for a moment, believing that his ears were playing tricks on him. But no, it was, indeed, WangXian. There was only one other person who knew that song. Only one other person who could play that song, and who would play it on a flute.

Or in other words, what happened when Lan Wangji heard the flute playing WangXian on Dafan Mountain?

"You're different from what I expected," she said softly. "How so?" he asked, glancing at her. "I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare." He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that." OR Y/n wakes up in the deadly Squid Game, surrounded by strangers and fighting to survive. What she doesn't know is that the mysterious Frontman is watching her every move through the cameras- and she's caught his attention.
