The Quileutes were changed from wolves by a wandering Transformer, Q'wati. He was the creator not only of wolves but of all shifters. After Q'wati's death, the peace between the beings he created came to an end with a crime that should not have been committed, a killing. For centuries, both sides have blamed each other for the said crime. Q'wati's spirit has since incarnated in a new body to restore the peace, choosing only the purest of any kind. The reincarnation of Q'wati was called the K'wa'iti'tala. He traveled among tribes and covens helping those in need, protecting them from each other and from the world. But everything changed with the birth of the Volturi. Seeing this powerful spirit as a threat, the coven made it their duty to end K'wa'iti'tala's life each time he was reborn. That's why the tribes and the covens, who still considered his existence sacred, began to hide him.
