Hunter Grayson meets Kai Evergreen in a coffee shop near their school. Kai immediately thinks Hunter is cute but refuses to show his face. The two continue to meet in the same dark coffee shop where they first met. Hunter desperately wants to know what Kai looks like, but Kai refuses to show his face. After two weeks, Kai finally shows his face. Hunter is shocked; Kai is the most handsome boy he's ever seen. Kai explains that he didn't show his face because he has severe depression and very low self-esteem. He admits that his parents are homophobic and they ignore him.
