This is a sneak peek of my new Amazon released book: Love Lies & Broken Hearts.
Young aspiring singer Meeka dreams of a better life beyond the bullying and turmoil she faces on the streets, at school and from within her home, but her world still continues to be rocked by tragedy after tragedy. Living in the D.C's roughest ghetto holds no kindness for her and the Malone family. Her mother/best friend Angie is trying to hold their rocky family together. Her father Marcus is an alcoholic police officer with a bad temper, she and her ball smart brother Jordon are always caught in the middle of the drama. Not much love is shown with Meeka and her dad, something she longs for and wonders why Marcus refrains from their relationship.
When Marcus is finally promoted to a new job as an officer, everything begins to change for the better for Meeka and the rest of the family. But when life begins to become perfect for her, Meeka's rosey world takes a nose dive into a dark hole of lies, deception, violence, betrayal, and secrets that she cannot imagine.
Her once loving relationship with her mother weakens, Jordon becomes estranged and she is left to pick up the pieces.
What comes next will be the final crack in her broken heart that she doesn't see coming.
