Forest for the Trees

This short story is a prequel to a novel I am currently writing.

Seraphine is known as the father of all Mythics. He lives in solitude in the Himalayas, where he grew up beside a child of the trees. Sakura was a dryad who lived sheltered from what was known as the third world war. A war between Mythics, who were tired of hiding, and Humans, who feared change and the unknown.

This story marks a day that would be celebrated for hundreds of years to come. The day peace had finally washed over the world. But also, the day that would forever trap Seraphine in grief.
