When Edmund was kid he never had friends, mostly because his town didn't have many kids but also because they were all scared of him, he had this weird power where you could control shadows and make them do whatever he wanted. After finding out he had this power he decided to use it to his advantage, he scared the kids in his class by turning off the lights and making the shadows hold them down.
