Kakashi was prepared to be alone in his room and sulk on his birthday. What he didn't expect was to be rudely interrupted by a strange visitor, and said visitor was planning something of his own as well.

This AU takes place shortly after the Gaara's rescue mission arc, when Tobi is first introduced and he joins the Akatsuki as a "Rookie." This is also around the time new team 7 is formed and Kakashi is left behind to recover in the hospital. Let's just say this story takes place after Kakashi recovers, but team 7 is still away on a mission.
