Something happened to Leo while he was in Central America. No one knows what. Only two girls know but they're dead. Now that the issue with Winter's is over, it's getting harder for Leo to hide all that was done to him.

Maria Sanava is a country girl, but unlike her parents, she isn't interested in working on an apple farm her whole life. She wants to do something that makes a mark on the world. (Zootopia anyone?) All her life she has been involved in extracurriculars, top of her classes in everything. She took art, english, math, science, forensic science, physics, philosophy, history, and even a few martial arts. But she couldn't ever figure out what it was that she wanted to do.
