Lily and James were childhood best friends. They grew up together, with Lily sneaking in his garden gate and him waiting for her below her window. Lily valued her relationship with James more than anything, but what once was a blissful friendship soon seems to be killing Lily slowly as she catches feelings for the lady charmer himself. She knows he comes with the price of heartbreak, but she quickly realizes that what doesn't kill her makes her want him more. The summer before their last year of high school proves to be like a knife, as she waits for him to cut her to the bone. And while those months with James seemed to be a fever dream of in breakable heaven, it all proved to be one Cruel Summer.
