Julia (Jules) Raelson was a good friend of the Mikealson siblings from a very young age, being the same age as Rebekah Mikealson when they were all human. She was the daughter of Ayana, the only other witch in their settlement and a werewolf who was just one of the many in the area with them.

Rebekah begged her mother to change Julia into a vampire as well, not realizing that Julia had already killed somebody and she had begun shifting into her wolf form at the young age of 11.

Unlike with Klaus Mikealson, she soon found out that she could control and choose to transform or to not transform, although often she chose to. Her best friends among the Mikealson family, Rebekah, Klaus and Kol, swore to keep her secret and they covered for her, when she shifted on full moons.

Julia found herself on the run from Mikeal along with his children, she was also there when they founded New Orleans and made it their home.

Now over a century later, Julia followed Elijah reluctantly back to New Orleans, where they quickly found out that everything had changed in the city that they had helped build and found. But also, that Klaus' former brutal protege Marcel, was now in charge of the city.

What could possibly go wrong with that situation?
