Like most of her family, Calya Everson is an empath. Born with the gift of Illusion, the power possessed by a select few of the Nobility, she can feel the emotions of others. And as the third in line for the throne with stronger senses than anyone before her, she knows she could pose a threat to the seven regions, to her family, to everyone. That's why, for months, she refused to use it and kept her sixth sense silent. General Atlas, firstborn to the King and dearly departed Queen, the heir to Harmonia, fears Illusion. When Cal's Illusion thwarts a planned attack on the castle and everyone in it, both Cal and Atlas are forced to flee from the castle for their safety. By order of the king, they're instructed to flee the palace and find the "safe haven," a small cottage on the edge of two of Harmonia's distinct regions. But as a truth about the Queen resurfaces, Cal and Atlas begin to realize that their little escape mission might hold the key to saving the kingdom - or destroying it.
