Forced to partner with her work nemesis, Detective April Harper quickly discovers that resisting the charming and notorious Ryan Cooper may be her toughest assignment yet. *** Los Angeles detective April Harper has spent years carving out her place on the force. Fueled by a drive to prove herself, she's let nothing stand in her way. Until Ryan Cooper. Sexy but insufferable, Cooper is April's ultimate rival, so when they find themselves assigned to the same case, friction is inevitable. Their mission: solve a multimillion-dollar real estate fraud case. Their problem: they can't stand each other. April sees Cooper as reckless and arrogant. Cooper thinks April is too rigid and controlling. Every heated argument, every battle for dominance only fuels the tension crackling between them - but is it really all hate? Forced into close quarters, April finds herself questioning how much of their fire is really just temptation. And the more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to ignore the pull between them. Late nights chasing leads turn into stolen glances, their fights into something dangerously close to foreplay. But just as April starts to let her guard down, a ghost from her past threatens to destroy everything - including the man she swore she'd never fall for. With the case and her heart on the line, how far will she go to protect them both? *** His lips graze my shoulder. "We should just keep going on about our days like we're not this attracted to each other, huh?" My heart is my throat. If I were strong, I'd put some distance between us. I'd tell him to go home, and we'd keep things professional. But I'm too far gone now.
