Set 6 months after Rise of the Guardians and Brave. Set a year after Tangled and How to Train Your Dragon. The guardians and Jack are living peaceful lives watching over the children of the world. But then Pitch Black returns with new allies: Mother Gothel, Red Death, and Mordu. So 3 new guardians are summoned. They are Rapunzel, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, and Merida DunBroch. When the world and the guardians are at stake, can they really rely on 4 teenagers?

Jack is a guardian, Elsa can control her powers, Merida and her mother have healed their bond, Rapunzel has healing hair and hasn't met Eugene (yet), and Hiccup isn't gorgeous (yet). Pitch and Hans have teamed up to capture Jack and Elsa. Merida, Rapunzel, and Hiccup get dragged into it when the bad guys accidentally stumble into Merida's world and take Merida and Hiccup, and accidentally make a portal to Rapunzel. But the more the merrier! The five are taken to The Chamber of Dreams, an invention of Pitch's. It has various isolation rooms where Pitch's black sand creates things and dampens their powers, crumbling their resolve and spirit. They are put through they're worst nightmares, find each other, and have to put aside their differences and work together to escape.

After the ordeal with Pitch, Jack learns that 3 other spirits exist, one that was killed in a heroic sacrifice, another was killed on accident, and the last was killed by a madman.
