Ranboo likes to think he's a good, normal kid. He's passing his classes and works his part-time fast food job without much complaint. And, honestly? He would be content with it staying that way. Order is order, and is yet to fail Ranboo. As much as adventure calls, safety is Ranboo's priority.
Adventure doesn't like that, though.
After meeting a strange boy with an interesting deck of cards and a near-death experience, Ranboo is thrust into a family of people who can do magic. He struggles to find his place, figure out what is trying to kill him, and also learn about the magical world that was hidden from him for so long. With something trying to murder him at every step, can Ranboo navigate through it all?

Ranboo is a nineteen year old merman. There's not much to his life, other than the fact that he's a merman. You may think it would be fun to be a merman or mermaid or merperson or whatever, but it's actually pretty boring. There's nothing to do besides swimming, swimming, and swimming some more. Ranboo's father is the king/god of the ocean. Now, that's pretty cool, right? Wrong! His father doesn't let him do anything. He has to stay at the castle all day and night doing jack shit. One day, when Ranboo sneaks out to go to the peer, he spots a boy, maybe just a year or two younger than him, in an unsafe ordeal. Ranboo's quick thinking saves the boy, and then Ranboo's life starts to change. No one ever understood the tall boy's disdain for a pack of measly paper cards but he could care less. The same couldn't be said for Dream. It was funny really. That is until he hears a tale of monsters and mysteries that lay outside the city walls. Tubbo hates his home. A young blonde boy wakes up in the middle of the forest. He can't remember how he got there or much about himself either. His name is blank from his mind, and he can't even remember his family. His clothes are torn and dirty, and he wonders what happened. He's not hungry, but he wants a small snack, yet every apple tree and every berry bush he passes doesn't strike his fancy. He eventually makes it to a city. Large buildings are fallen over and the ones still standing have busted out windows and/or have smoke and fire coming from them. He can hear distant screams and yells and gunshots. There are people passing him that are strange. They're badly injured and walk slightly hunched over. Some are missing limbs, and some are missing and eye, or both. They don't even appear to be alive to the boy. They look his way but don't mind him. Tommy is confused and scared. He can slightly remember this place to be his once home, and it makes him upset that's it's gone to such shit, and scared by everyone's screams and the fires and the fighting, and mostly, the fact that some people are eating each other.
